WHY WE DO IT
I have a passion for the beauty industry and the great opportunities it offers that I want to share with everyone in our community. I do it because it improves the economic and family life of our students. I do it because of the way both instructors and staff contribute to the success of our participants.
MY STORY
“I dreamt of becoming an instructor and being discovered in the beauty industry. It became my passion. I obtained my license in 1993 and opened my first establishment shortly after. Founded in 1995, it was the first Association of Latinos Stylists in California, and it’s only grown from there. In 2016, we founded the Cosmetica Beauty and Barbering Academy which offers opportunities to obtain licenses in Cosmetology, Barbering, Esthetician, Manicuring, and Makeup Artistry.
We have helped both men and women improve their economic situation and family life. The graduates have not only obtained gainful employment but also have become business owners themselves. The most important achievement has been to be able to share these accomplishments with my family as associates in the industry.”
WHY WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
I love my neighborhood because of its diversity and vibrant desires of our students to learn what opportunities the industry has for them.
THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE WE FACED
Helping the community discover great opportunities this industry offers. We needed to make them aware that families can improve their lives through training, which eventually leads to employment and entrepreneurship. This is when I realized that I needed advertising, marketing, and promotion.
